The air we breathe is something many people take for granted. But in the industrial parts of North, South, and Southeast Minneapolis, the air is anything but clean. Heavy air pollution leads to things like asthma, which we know is a primary cause of school absences and countless emergency room visits. The zip code 55411 has the highest rates of asthma hospitalizations in the entire state, disproportionately affecting low income communities and communities of color.
On Monday, June 20, Congressman Ellison will gather leaders working on air pollution to discuss Equitable Air. The panel will include Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Commissioner John Linc Stine and Minneapolis Commission of Health Gretchen Musicant, as well as organizers working on environmental justice. There will be a large amount of time dedicated to answering questions and listening to testimony from the community.
See you there!
