NOC is partnering with our friends from Center for Popular Democracy, MN350, and GAIA to roll out to NYC for the largest climate march in US history, and you're invited! We'll be hopping on a caravan of buses and working to coordinate housing for those that need it while in NYC. This is a powerful opportunity for NOC members to play an active role in a movement to reshape the environment and the economy.
Scholarships are available for NOC members, but spots on the buses are filling up fast! See below for info on scholarships, and register by Friday (tomorrow) if at all possible.
Important information about travel:
There are several buses leaving Minnesota, the earliest leaving on the morning of Friday, September 19th. Youth should try as hard as possible to get on this bus! It will get you to NYC in time for a youth convergence on Saturday.
For people who can't take Friday off, there are buses leaving that evening and Saturday morning to get you there in time for the march Sunday. All buses currently plan to return by Monday evening. For specific information and to sign up, please see here.
Important information about money:
There are funds set aside for at least 10 NOC people. Priority is give to youth of color. Youth of color should fill out the scholarship form (in the link above) and mark '0' for all financial information. (You can self-identify as youth) If you are an adult and identify as a person of color, you can also fill out the scholarship form and mark '0.' Make sure to put NOC as your organizational affiliation.
Our coalition partners have committed to sending everyone regardless of need, so if you don't fit that description and have financial need, you should still fill out the scholarship form. I'll follow up and let you know if you need to provide financial information.
Important information about housing:
Our partners have committed to providing housing for all. However, this means mostly couches. Please let me know if you have someone in NYC who can host you, or would be able to host someone else. Also, if you have any special concerns around housing like allergies, accessibility needs, let me know as well.
This is super exciting, everyone! Give me (Susan) a call at (630) 217-4228
