Executive and Operations Assistant

Neighborhoods Organizing for Change (NOC) is a grassroots, member-led organization building power in under-resourced communities and communities of color across the Twin Cities. NOC works at the intersection of race, the economy and public policy in an effort to produce systemic change in Minnesota.

The Executive and Operations Assistant will demonstrate effective and efficient project management, and must be capable of exercising initiative, discretion and good judgment.  Strong writing skills, professionalism and confidentiality are crucial to this role.   

This position will report to the Executive Director and the Operations Director in Minneapolis, MN. We offer a generous compensation package commensurate with experience.


Executive Director Support Responsibilities 

  • Maximize strategic communications, and commitments for the Executive Director, including scheduling and confirming internal and external meetings, cataloguing incoming emails, and tracking progress of certain conversations and projects. 

  • Support the Executive Director for meetings and engagements, including: Conducting research on Executive Director’s appearances and meetings; Preparing necessary documents for meetings; and Tracking any follow‐up. 

  • Provide external relationship management support to enable the Executive Director to cultivate, facilitate and manage key relationships with allies, funders and elected officials.   

  • Prepare correspondence, reports/presentations, and assist with planning, research and other writing assignments for both internal and external audiences. 

  • Manage all administrative support for the Executive Director including travel  support, logistical support, expense reimbursements, and timesheets. 

  • Other duties as assigned including project management of special projects and initiatives.    

Operations Support Responsibilities

Provide support to Operations including: 

  • Finance & Compliance: Assistance with payment and invoice processing, financial filing and the processing of payroll.

  • Facilities: Includes reception duties including phones and mail, oversight of office supplies and maintenance of office organization.

  • Human Resources & Benefits Administration: Includes assistance in payroll processing and time tracking, and maintenance of employment files, including W4s and benefits enrollment.

  • Technology: Troubleshooting office IT issues and serving as a liaison for NOC’s IT consultants.


At least two years work experience in office or project management in a non‐profit or similar environment. 

Strong organizational skills, a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure in a fast‐paced environment and meet deadlines.

Highly detail oriented, with meticulous approach to follow through, including systems  for tracking follow up. 

Strong interpersonal, communication and relational skills; strong verbal communication  skills; demonstrated ability to function in a collaborative and collegial environment, and  to interact effectively with diverse staff at all levels of the organization.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong self-starter. Good judgment, flexibility and patience; discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
