When the grand jury in Ferguson handed down its non-indictment verdict last week, it hit hard because we knew that it could happen here--and already has. Black men and boys are killed by police or vigilantes nationwide every 28 hours. Pointergate was just the most recent public, ugly reminder that some police officers within the department are too often willing to abuse their power to strip people of color, especially young black men, of their humanity. And it's time to do something about it.
Join us for a meeting to begin the conversation about structural change in the police force as we head into 2015. We hope to see you there.
