On May 17th, we celebrate the the 60th anniversary of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case, Brown v. Board of Education, which ruled in 1954 on May 17 that racial segregation in public education is unconstitutional, overturning the doctrine of "separate but equal." But today, here in Minnesota, we still face worst in the nation racial disparities in education, health, and jobs..
Marcus Harcus, from NOC, is working with the community to organize a powerful rally on Saturday, May 17, 2014 for education equity and justice, demanding that we as a community close the so-called "academic achievement gap" in this generation!
This week's Saturday Member Meeting will include training, community conversation, time with our transit equity campaign, and time to begin planning and organizing a powerful action for the Brown vs. Board of Education 60th anniversary.
Please join us! There will be food, childcare, and a whole lot of community. Please contact Marcus Harcus at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions!
