Hello Great People,
You're invited to join Neighborhoods Organizing for Change for a Transit Equity press conference this Thursday, May 29th 5:30pm at Hennepin County Government Center 300 S. 6th St., Minneapolis to hold the Metropolitan Council accountable to communities of color in the creation of the South West Light Rail Transit line. (SWLRT)
Immediately following the press conference, we will head to the Met Council's Municipal Public Hearing to approve current plans for SWLRT development. We want the county and other cities to approve the line but we also want the Met Council and city to ensure and agree to a community benefits agreement in writing, created by the communities who are most impacted by inequity. We are the ones who will use this line once it's built so we should decide how our community will benefit from this 1.7 billion dollar project. No more decisions made for us, without us!
People from neighborhoods who are likely to oppose a Community Benefits Agreement are already organizing for this hearing, so we need to turn out in force to make sure that our voices are heard.
Show your support, we need your voice at the table
