At our annual meeting on February 4th, NOC will be electing a Board of Directors for the next year. Any member in good standing is eligible to serve on the board. The first step in the process is to fill out this short application no later than January 28th, which will be read by the nominations committee, who will contact you for a followup conversation.
The NOC Board of Directors is reponsible for the governance and fiscal oversight of the organization. The Board is also responsible for shaping the vision of the organization and setting NOC's priorities. Because NOC is a member-led organization, we provide board training so that any of our members can learn the skills needed to understand the procedures and technical aspects of a board meeting and fully participate. Directors are expected to participate in that training, and to participate fully in board meetings.
Board members are responsible for:
- Attending a monthly board meeting (including finding their own transportation to board meetings).
- Participating in building the organization, including actively participating in events, and bringing new members to the organization.
- Representing NOC as spokespeople in the community.
