Group Claims Foreclosures Affecting Student Learning, School Funding

And NOC believes that even kids who stay put in financially secure homes also suffer from the fall-out of foreclosure. The decrease in state funding per pupil means school closings, teacher layoffs, a lack of supplies, and other cutbacks.

Another supporter of NOC, father of two Johnny Jones Jr.,says if banks aren't willing to adjust payments for struggling families facing foreclosure now, the entire community will pay later. "If they don't, our kids are going to end up in jail and prison," he said. "They're not going to got o school. They're going to drop out."
