The Impact of Foreclosures on the Minneapolis Public Schools

 

Though there has been extensive study of the impact of the foreclosure crisis on homeowners, far less attention has been paid to the collateral damage felt in our community.  NOC released this study to show the impact the foreclosure crisis has had on school funding, demonstrating that the Minneapolis Public Schools have lost $150 million in state funding attributable to home foreclosures.

NOC is proud announce that the Minnesota House of Representatives passed our Minnesota Homeowners’ Bill of Rights (H.F. 1377), on a bipartisan vote of 123-0! This is the biggest economic justice win in the history of NOC, and you all helped to make it possible....

Nearly 100 people showed up to our event Locked up, Locked out on Saturday, May 18th. NOC joined forces with Take Action MN to host a powerful afternoon of speakers, info and organizing. Speakers included Dr. Nkema Levy-Pounds and respected community members with criminal backgrounds, all of whom are locked...
Last November, NOC worked to get thousands of voters activated to stop the voter surpression amendment, Voter ID. 
Voters can start speaking up and getting their voices heard in less than two weeks!
Precinct Caucuses begin at 7:00pm on April 16th, 2013, registration begins at 6:30.
